High John root comes from Mexico, where many escaped to during slavery from the southern United States. It is the root of the Ipomoea Jalapa plant which is a climbing plant that grows to around 3 meters and is related to the morning glory and sweet potato.
High John is a hero spirit who escaped from slavery and other snares set for Black people in America. It is said that he left his spirit in this root for those with African ancestry to access to call upon his same “trickster” spirit and ability to get out of and conquer trouble.
May be used whole of in powder form when in trouble. Also when needing protection, empowerment in love, gambling, court cases, and issues with finances and work. It can be used to help turn the tide of fortune your way and bringing success.
